    He was born Harry Rodger Webb, in India at King George's Hospital, Victoria Street, in Lucknow, which was then part of British India.

    Sir Cliff Richard has addressed long-running rumours about his sexuality, asking a television interviewer: ‘If I was same-sex attracted would it make any difference?’

    The veteran singer, who has never married, said speculation about his feasible homosexuality was painful when he was younger but that it had ceased to concern him.

    The 73-year-old, best known for hits such as Bachelor Teen and Summer Holiday, tackled rumours about his intimate life in a candid interview for the Australian television programme A Current Affair, which was publish on Friday night.
