Today we'll be featuring the best duo of all-time... Improved than the Everly Brothers, better than the Carpenters... Even better than Milli Vanilli... Just joking... Milli Vanilli wasn't a duo, it was a ghost story from the 80s... Grammies...
Simon & Garfunkel were friends like forever. Successfully, actually since fourth grade. Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel grew up in the 1940s and 1950s in the predominantly Jewish neighborhood of Forest Hills in Queens, Modern York, just three blocks away from one another, and attended the equal schools, Public University 164 in Flushing, Parsons Junior Upper School, and Forest Hills High Educational facility. Individually, when still young, they developed a fascination with music; both listened to the radio and were taken with Rock and Roll as it emerged, particularly the Everly Brothers. When Simon first noticed Garfunkel, he was singing in a fourth grade talent show, and Simon thought that was a good way to attract girls; he hoped for a friendship which eventually started in 1953 when they were in the sixth grade and appeared on stage together in a school play adaptation of Alice in Wonderland. That first stage appearance was followed by the duo forming a street-co
"It has such a light happy experience to it that I think people tend to consider of it as a funny lyric where in reality it has an interesting development -- the character starts off a totally self-absorbed guy who's worried about how fat he is, and ends up a guy in a strange planet looking at angels in the architecture. It evolves through all those tum- bling, jammed up lyrics and falls into that. It took a drawn-out time to record, which probably makes sense because there's a lot of words in it. The chorus, the bodyguard part, I always thought was the weakest group of words, but sometimes whatever comes to your mind won't exit and then that's what you include to do. If I could own found another chorus I would hold, but I couldn't. But then because it became a kind of a hit with kids, it turned out that kids very much liked the idea of bodyguards, were very familiar with the concept. That's the aggression of the planet that we inhabit in -- kids know about bodyguards. A lot of times kids will go, Did you do that anthem, Bodyguard? So, actually it turns out to be a good hook for a chorus. "

Hello Don,
It has been a usual interpretation back then, but I think (not sure) that Simon has said that he did not know exactly what Julio and the narrator were doing. Maybe stealing ?

I ponder this is just a funny song and we are supposed to speculate. If he wanted us to know, he would have told us. I don't know if the person who asked this question has any boys, but there lots of naughty things that boys do when adults (and police)aren't watching. I accomplish not even want to know!

I had mentioned George Michael's passing in yesterday's comments, but I think he deserves more than that: Since yesterday, I sense like I've lost a companion. He was about my age, he came from English and Cypriot parents (I was born in England and spent my childhood in Cyprus), he was an out and proud queer man and it seems that he had a good and charitable soul. He was also one of the top five singers-songwriters of the 80s and 90s. I am sure that his work will be appreciated more profoundly as time goes by; it's only a pity he didn't live to present us more songs like Jesus To A Child, or more joyous coming out hymns enjoy Outside or An Easier Affair.
I realized that something was going wrong with George Michael in a strange way: as I was checking this blog's visits, I noticed there was a huge spike, almost exclusively directed to my three-part presentation of George, last June (the last part in particular). This large increase in visits lasted all through yesterday and is still going on. To show the scale of this increase, the visits received during the last 24 hrs are more than those received in the last two weeks combined - and the last two weeks were the best weeks ever. Till now.
