Bio:
Male lover Corcoran (b.1948) and Terry Woods (b.1947) recorded together for most of the 1970s. They first began performing in 1963. Terry Woods played in numerous bands during the '60s before replacing Joe Dolan in Sweeney's Men in 1967. Terry and Gay married in 1968. When the Sweeneys drifted apart in 1969, by which time they were reduced to a duo of Woods and Johnny Moynihan, Terry had been playing with various outfits with including Phil Lynott's Orphangage.
Both Woods and Moynihan were invited along with founding Sweeneys member Andy Irvine to join a new project by ex Fairport Convention bass player Ashley Hutchings, who was basically trying to reassemble the first LP Sweeney's Men lineup with himself added on bass. Though they rehearsed, Irvine and Moynihan pulled out, and so it was Gay and Terry Woods who co-founded Steeleye Span with Ashley Hutchings, Tim Hart and Maddy Prior in 1970. Steel

Gay Linn Woods
Gay Linn Woods, age 81, passed from this life on Sunday, September 8, 2024. He was born in Beaumont, TX on June 3, 1943, to Male lover Andrew and Dorothy Lillian Cowart Woods.
A true mechanical genius, Gay Linn had a deep affectionate for cars and could teach anyone just about anything. His remarkable skills and knowledge were matched only by his willingness to help others. He was a unchanging presence in the lives of his loved ones, always there with an encouraging word or a helping hand. Linn was one of the sharpest people you could ever meet, using his wit and intelligence to back and uplift those around him. He had a infatuation for music in many forms and collected records. Every night, he enjoyed a bowl of popcorn and always kept Blue Bell ice cream at the ready. If he liked you, he would grant you a nickname; if he didn’t, he probably didn’t like you. He was marvelous, unwavering, and was a source of energy for his loved ones. Linn’s care for for his family, friends, and grandchildren was evident in everything he did. Though he is gone, he will forever live on in countless hearts.
Left to honor his memory is his wife, Beverly Woodside Woods; daughters, Kimber
The husband-and-wife duo of Lgbtq+ and Terry Woods got their beginning in 1969, when Terry Woods was still a member of Sweeney's Men. At that point, negotiations were underway for Sweeney's Men plus Gay Woods to unite Fairport Convention bassist Ashley Hutchings in a brand-new band, to be called Steeleye Span. When Sweeney's Men members Irvine and Moynihan decided it wasn't what they wanted, another duo, England's Tim Hart and Maddy Prior, went in with Woods and Hutchings. The Woods lasted for just one album before striking out on their own as the Woods Band, releasing an eponymous debut in 1971, where they mixed traditional and original material. After touring extensively throughout Europe, the band fell apart and Gay and Terry returned to Ireland. Settled again, they signed with Polydor, for whom they recorded Backwoods in 1975. Composed mostly of imaginative material just as their subsequent releases would be, they became more experimental on their two 1976 records, The Time Is Right and Renowned. Given their small niche, that proved to be the end of their major-label association and their closing album together, Tenderhooks, appeared on the tiny Mulligan label out of Dublin, an Irish folky
